We do have a few retired adult females looking for a couch to land on. They will not be considered for homes with other female dogs. They could do fine in a home with mannered adult males.

Alongside the Breeder Referral program, the Akita Club of America Rescue has several club affiliated breed specific rescues across the country. Shelters are filled daily with Akitas in need of homes and our breed rescues are operating at full capacity on limited resources and limited funds. Adopting an Akita in need of a home is a beautiful experience and adopters are the lifeline of rescue and are critical to their continued operation. Adopting an Akita in need of a home opens up its space in the breed rescues to save another life from the euthanasia list. Consider opening yours up to one of those instead of a puppy from a breeder!
